A lil' place filled with my thoughts

Beautiful

Imagine......waking up to this scenery, having those boats in front of you..that green grass all around you....the clear blue skies and the clouds....man am i lucky to have this :D

when i left sarteneja(picture) i felt so excited to go somewhere new, that time it was to Orange Walk. everything was going good and i didnt miss sarteneja. i felt like its jus sea whatever....6 years later now that im in belize city....and i go back to sarteneja like three times a year i can really appreciate what i left behind. i remember as a young girl i would be in the sea whole day! literally! as i woke up till my fingers got wrinkly or how we used to say "chuchul" lol me and my cousins or friends would wake up saturdays and take a dip then go eat lunch then go back. by the end of the day we were very tired and we would fall asleep. when you're a child it all seems fun and i guess we take it for granted that "it will always be there"

at 19 years old, i wish i could be there often. just this weekend i went for one day and i didnt even get to swim.that felt like sadness when i was driving back home. the sea was so pretty and clear and cool. the wind was sooo strong like hurricane winds lol so it was fun being there. jus enjoying the tropical pinch i got. i felt so fortunate to call it HOME. i realized i actually missed the place!

you dont realize what you've got till its gone..........well for me its not gone, im gone from it. but im always gonna keep going back! gonna take my family n show them this is where momma grew up! this is her lil piece of paradise.

Sarteneja is a lil village but trust me, memories can be made as you arrive... and that's not to mention the fun you'll having searching for fruits. well i know i loved going with my cousins and aunt to get plums and mangoes and oranges. you can even get bananas, that i could get behind my house that was my grandmother's hedge.well it still is. oh well... jus a lil trip down memory lane.... nice memories.....

This is how you'd end your day at Sarteneja!

Encouragement-Don't Give Up

"Experience is not what happens to you; it is what you do with what happens to you."
~ Aldous Huxley

"It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: "And this, too, shall pass away.""
~ Abraham Lincoln

"If you have made mistakes, there is always another chance for you. You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call 'failure' is not the falling down, but the staying down. "
~ Mary Pickford

"When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on. "
~ Franklin D. Roosevelt

"He who refuses to embrace a unique opportunity loses the prize as surely as if he had failed."
~ William James

"When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us."
~ Alexander Graham Bell

"It doesn't matter how many say it cannot be done or how many people have tried it before; it's important to realize that whatever you're doing, it's your first attempt at it."
~ Wally Amos

"When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow,
Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit."
~ Unknown

"Fall seven times, stand up eight."
~ Japanese Proverb

"If one dream should fall and break into a thousand pieces, never be afraid to pick one of those pieces up and begin again. "
~ Flavia Weedn

Immigrants in Belize

How unbelievable is this man...........

Pedro Venereo Castro, 44, a Cuban inmate who has served out his six-month sentence at the Hattieville Prison for coming to Belize illegally, has threatened since last Thursday to go on a hunger strike until he is released.

Representatives of the Human Rights Commission of Belize have been alerted to the situation, but claim that there is not much they can do at this point for Venereo. Cuba does not want him, and neither does the United States, where he lived previously, said a member of the Commission, who added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Belize has “put its feet down” and said that Venereo should not be granted asylum in Belize. “Where does he go? He can’t be left in prison forever,” said Commission member, Rick August of Help for Progress.

Venereo served out his time a week and three days ago, but has remained behind bars up to press time today. Hubel Rodriguez, a fellow inmate behind bars since June 2008, also for illegal entry, has been trying to get his matter heard in court, via a habeas corpus application, demanding protection against illegal imprisonment. Rodriguez is still seeking financial help to pursue that case.

Venereo insists that his hunger strike will continue until he is released from behind bars.

“We know he’s eating,” said a high ranking prison official who does not wish to be identified.

The official, who said he wants to see the Cubans released from prison, told Amandala that the matter is now in the hands of the Government of Belize, and more specifically the Ministry of National Security and Immigration. He claimed that Venereo had said last week that if he does not get out “something will happen.”

i know it is a bit old(posted on 23/02/2010) but it really grabbed my attention. how do you deal with an inmate that is not wanted by his native country or previous residential country?
here's the link it has more to the story its quite interesting....

Crazy News....

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100504/ap_on_go_ot/us_times_square_probe

WASHINGTON – The no-fly list failed to keep the Times Square suspect off the plane. Faisal Shahzad had boarded a jetliner bound for the United Arab Emirates Monday night before federal authorities pulled him back.
The night's events, gradually coming to light, underscored the flaws in the nation's aviation security system, which despite its technologies, lists and information sharing, often comes down to someone making a right call.
